Thanks to ‘Legend’ Ted Walmsley’ who gave us a plant of a real PeeWee. Had to remake Elegant Heart. ‘John’ is a luscious mid pink with a hint of yellow/Orange in the background. Lip a dark pink throat with the extremities o soft pink, & the dark pink forming a stripe to the lips end. Pollen cap white. Once again our ever faithful ‘The Moon’ provided the goods & are looking good, expect a ‘different’ Elegant Heart.   25% bigibbum

More Newbees. Mum a 1616 cross, all have been tops, lovely golden hews with a splash of pink/orange present on the segments. Throw in our Yondi Tina with its pure golden segments, white lip & raised canary yellow callii. Don’t like golden yellows; don’t buy this one, with colchocine for added grunt. This New kid, texture to burn, golden butter yellow with a hint of pink blush on the extremities of the petals,   lesser on the sepals. Lip pale golden yellow with darker pink markings, callii brighter yellow. Dad has a pleasing habit of doing everything right when used, texture like cardboard, intense marbling of deep rusty burgundy over a soft yellow base colour, lip darker rusty burgundy on white background, Champion at Gosford Spectacular ’07. Should be a cracker

We have certainly continued on with the new kids with this Mum. Stunning ‘Extremely’ crossed ‘The Moon’ gave us Monroe. ‘Extremely’ was almost a red large flower, the result was softer reddish beauty, texture and great presentation. Now ‘Chunky Moon’ Grand Champ. Warringah ’08, a real mellow yellow, superb floral presentation, ‘The Moon’ is its Dad as well. This should produce Top Class kids. Whilst Dad has received a 79 point HCC/AOS in New York. 2785   *D. WARRINGAH   –  REMAKE  i.e.,(spec. cap. PINE MOUNTAIN x bigibbum ‘WILKO’S BEST’)

This is a Warringah with a definitive difference, it will be squatter. We have gone for ‘Pine Mountain as  Mum, it is    one of the first flowering speciosums, long arching spike cream /yellow blooms & lots of them. Importantly Mum has a short racus,  the  gap between base of flower and raceme. ‘Wilko’s Best’ would have to be one of the best bigibbum’s going around, bewdiful shape, great solid deep deep pink colour, great presentation. These are growing like crazy.

2803   *SAIGON – REMAKE    i.e., (BURGUNDY CREAM ‘TUMBI’ X AUSSIE VICTORY ‘SUPERNATURAL’)

         The original Saigon made by Neil has turned out some absolute mind blowers (not MINE blowers), a little de JA vu there. So we did the remake using the Burgundy Cream ‘Tumbi’ similar to “#2” but more intensity in the burgundy department, Just like a vintage Burgundy. Throw in our ‘Supernatural’ which has over the years of stud duty has produced some real crackers, and we can’t see that this will be any different. Added colchocine so it could be even more than supernatural.  12% bigibbum

2807    *D. BUCKO ‘BECKITT’   X   AUSSIE VICTORY ‘SUPERNATURAL’                    PLUS C

Hermon Slade Hybrid Winner ’08, Mid to dark Rose pink beauty        with the influence of the colour of Peewee and the twisty of Den. tangerinum. Its legs look like it has been riding horses for a long time; the arms are straight and the vertical doing the Chubby Checker ‘twisting’, just slightly. We know the ‘Super Stud’ Dad, texture like cardboard, intense marbling of deep rusty burgundy over a soft yellow base colour, lip darker rusty burgundy on white background, Champion at Gosford Spectacular ’07.

He should straighten things out, and give us a result that should be “very interesting”   as Maxwell Smart would say.

Mum an absolute cracker, pristine white base colour with vibrant purple/red random markings on the S & P’s., similar  colour on the back.  Dad with its upright spike 12 plus parchment white blooms that just sit there and say look at me , with the speciosum ‘rivers of purple running down the lip. with typical Kayla texture . Expecting more top drawer results with this one.

One of the crosses we made in conjunction with our friends at Cedarvale Orchids, we supplied the ‘Moon’ dust, & Ross Harvey the Mum. Given that she has the unique parentage of having two Tropicools in Class x Intense, which did produce some excellent strong coloured goodies. Daylight will certainly put some starch in its habit. The combo of ‘Rose’ and ‘The Star’ produced same large good lookers.   3% bigibbum

Another joint effort with Cedarvale.  This time Ross has used a very early cross of ours as Mum which would have a great shape and colour mix.  Throw in the Super Stud ‘The Moon’ and should give good strong spikes with that “box of Chocolates” colour possibilities.
